About
It’s 2020. To the uninitiated, this year was once something idealized to have flying vehicles. Here we stand now, and clearly know the truth is far from it. The same thing applies to all the cynics bemoaning that ‘rock n roll is dead’. Same broken record. Same negative creeps. Different era. While the terrestrial music market is presently dominated by mainstream anti-rock, it’s a solid bet to say that the spirit of rock n roll — what it stands for and embodies — is pulsing through the undercurrent of the mainstream music we hear today. It’s more about a type of feeling than a specific sound. If there’s guitar performed on a song, chances are that player went to the woodshed in their youth, worshiping the lore of Hendrix and Young. For the generations wielding electric guitars, smashing on drums, slapping bass, and yelling ‘TURN THE VOLUME UP’, in the refined spirit of musical worship, now is the time to unite. It’s time to show all the naysayers the conversation has been changed, and that there’s a new bandit in town — a fearless leader of the pack ready to brave the new wild west and bring justice to your headphones.
This Kentucky bred Outlaw-Rock artist — DUSTY BO — delivers inspired first class performance with edgy riffs,
vocal prowess and blues-charged guitar solos executed by the hand of experience. For Dusty, the choice has always been to never stop the pursuit of exploring the terrain in which he expresses best. He possesses the heart of a lifer that shines through in his delivery and his road-earned seasoning commands a consideration of respect. Thanks to a robust family environment that cherished music, his voyage began early. A chance family outing to see Earth, Wind & Fire at The Louisville Palace, would be the ignition to set the blaze and permanently impact young Dusty’s life. An obsession began. After putting a toy guitar on his Christmas list a month later and having a real-deal 6 string electric axe show up under the tree instead, his world was reformed with laser focus. A new young guitar-slingers journey was born. The pursuit of guitar obsessed youth would provide live performance and studio recording opportunities all through and beyond his teenage years, parlaying into his first true band, Bolt Action Thrill. Led by Dusty and his dear friend Luke Powers, they shared guitar and singing duties and brought a youthful, energetic feel to guitar heavy southern rock. Their roots were planted strong in Kentucky, but California was calling. The year 2009 saw the relocation of the band to take a shot at the Hollywood rock scene on the world renowned Sunset Strip. After a full length album and a few years of bourbon-soaked-hell-raising in clubs like The Whisky-a-GoGo, Roxy Theater and The Viper Room, 2012 saw B.A.T. calling it a wrap. However, fate was working overtime for Dusty and shortly thereafter, he was recruited by quickly rising hard-rock stalwarts Future Villains. Embracing this newfound pivot, and taking on his new duties of frontman, FV succeeded to tour internationally and record in a few of the world's most prestigious studios, such as Sunset Sound and NRG Studios. Unfortunately, sometimes this business does more harm than good.
After several years of earning scars, it was a management/investment deal gone south that was the final match for Dusty, and in 2017 decided it was time to part ways and subsequently leave the band. The adventure was destined to continue. Next stop, a return to his home turf. Never one to stay stagnant, Dusty’s newfound freedom allowed an opportunity to take the reins for himself and strap in for a ride as a solo artist. He knew the best recipe was to bet on himself, and that speaking true from the heart was the only acceptable option. Having just come out of two consecutive rock bands, the idea of embracing the country/southern rock material he’d been writing was a welcome revelation and coincided nicely with a relocation back to Louisville. Bo was primed for the next few years, recording constantly, working the Southern regional live circuit, frequenting Nashville for co-writes, meeting with labels, and doing full court press to soak up his experiences in the Country Music world. Through this deep immersion, Dusty realized at the core of it all, that no matter what he did, his heart would always be in the rock world. His true influence resides in his deep southern roots and in the soul-soaked blues genres that timelessly deliver.
With a wealth of experiences in the rear view, the prime time to continue the Dusty Bo evolution is now. A whole
batch of new material is ready to unleash into the conversation. This refreshing sound that Dusty brings to the speakers is a welcome change from the current mainstream cog and has a pure sensibility that showcases his weighty talents. The writing is sharp, his vocal delivery and range are frankly undeniable and only matched by the raw emotion in his aggressive guitar playing. There is no doubt, as if he was waiting for this moment all along, Dusty has found his own-true sound, distinguished as if The Black Crowes, Gary Clark Jr. and Led Zeppelin came together to form a “Rockin’ Rollercoaster-Time Machine”. So while we may not have those flying cars just yet, at least we’ve got transportation to the future and the perfect soundtrack all worked out.
